Back to sport for 90-year-old & 61-year-old fitness patients

Sport isn’t just for the young – it can be enjoyed throughout life and by dealing with any niggles and injuries along the way, you can keep on going!

We’ve recently had two patients desperate to get back to their sports, treated by Kayleigh, who specialises in competitive and recreational sports therapy.

Patient: 90-year-old
Problem: Hip pain preventing socialising, daily activities and bowls playing
Treated by: Kayleigh Lewellyn

This patient had hip pain that was not only limiting his daily life activities, but also his socialising and ability to play bowls.
Not a quick fix, but with 8 carefully planned and responsive sessions to his progress over four months, he’s back to seeing his friends and playing bowls too…absolutely pain-free.
The therapy included strengthening, mobilisations, home exercise, and Pilates-based work too.

Patient: 61-year-old, fitness instructor
Problem: Hip and low back pain
Treated by: Kayleigh Lewellyn

Four treatments over two months got this patient back to work, in addition to a home therapy programme too which she was very much committed to, which makes such a difference to progress and recovery!

Mobilisations and also some education to prevent the recurring injury has meant she can return to her job pain-free and with more awareness to relapse.
