At KTB, taping and strapping techniques are incorporated into physiotherapy treatment, or used alone for injury prevention and rehabilitation. In order to receive the benefits of taping it is important that the tape is administered correctly and with the right products. The physiotherapists at KTB have received extensive training on taping techniques. In addition to this, KTB work alongside Sportec 360 with their D3 taping range to optimise the effectiveness of this service by using only the best products.

Sports Taping at KTB

KTB offer a quality and popular taping service for many sports clubs and individuals. Our taping service typically falls into one of the following categories:

1. Implementation of taping into physiotherapy treatment sessions
2. Taping for injury rehabilitation and prevention in sports participation

Many individuals become frustrated by the ineffectiveness of poor quality tape and inexperienced execution. Sadly the cost of taping from a professional, on a regular basis, is often a barrier to receiving and benefitting fully from taping techniques. KTB understand this and to help, provide workshops to our affiliated sports clubs to demonstrate and teach keen sportsmen, women and coaches how to apply the D3 tape themselves in order to still provide maximum benefits.

For more information on our taping workshops to clubs or to book an appointment with one of our sports physiotherapists please call us on 01322 277 200. Please note that before tape can be administered an assessment is required. A skin test patch will be recommended and you will be advised on the best D3 tape to purchase from our online shop to optimise treatment results. Purchased D3 tape will then be used in the physiotherapy sessions to address the issues identified in the assessment.

The Benefits of Taping Within Physiotherapy Treatments

At KTB taping may be incorporated into physiotherapy sessions if the goal of treatment is to:

• Reduce pain
• Reduce swelling
• Remove the pressure from an injury
• Facilitate the normal healing process of soft tissues
• Support and protect the muscles surrounding an injured joint
• Encourage normal movement
• Enhance strength and muscle tone in weak or injured muscles

The D3 Kinesiology tape used at KTB has a comprehensive array of therapeutic benefits. Because it can be left on for up to 5 days, these therapeutic benefits are available to the injured area 24 hours a day, significantly accelerating the healing process from trauma, injuries and inflammatory conditions.

Taping for injury rehabilitation

One of the main benefits of sports taping at KTB is that it allows athletes to remain active while injured. If clinically appropriate, the physiotherapists at KTB can tape injuries with the D3 Kineseology tape to relieve pain. This intervention can minimize inflammation and provide support for injured structures, without compromising a healthy range of motion. This can allow athletes to continue training and/or competing as their injuries heal.

Taping can be beneficial to the competitive sportsperson even without an injury. When using the correct tape over a muscle, the circulation to working muscles can be increased. This can enhance the removal of the by-products of exercise including lactic acid, allowing for more rapid recovery and helping to prevent or relieve spasms and cramps in overused or injured muscles. Furthermore this could translate into improved performance in endurance events or more complete recovery between repetitive, high intensity events.
